2011 Diocesan Women’s Workshop in Photos (and a few words)

“We came as different people from different places. We have been together all this time and now, we are still different, but we are family. Women around the world are one. We have a purpose and we can change things. We have learned these things” – Mary Ayor Majok, Bunagok, South Sudan

You may remember my post about last year’s women’s workshop. It was the first gathering of women from across the diocese for a formal workshop. This year we were able to continue this vision of the late bishop; a dream of empowering the women in the diocese by bringing people from different regions and people groups together to learn, live, share, and dance for ten days.

The 2011 theme was trauma healing and peace building.

“If you would have asked me before to answer the question ‘who am I?’ I wouldn’t have known how to answer you. Now I have an answer: I am a human being” – Teresa Adieu Angok, Cueibet, South Sudan.

  1. You tell such a great story -- with few words, words of others, and pictures. You are doing amazing work. You are amazing and this world is so blessed to have you in it.

  3. Dear Kaitlyn,
I am a retired surgeon living in England. I was the doctor in charge, and the only doctor, of Rombek hospital in 1958-9. I have a longing desire to revisit Rombek now that things are hopefully better. What advice can you give me?
I think there may be elderly people who would remember me, but this is not important. I wish to see the people as they are now, and to express my loyalty and love to them. I do not propose to offer any medical services of any kind.
I take this opportunity to wish you a merry XMas and a happy 2012.
